HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen 8 seems to be a better option in many cases, although it is an older model. Compared to the HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen 10, it’s not as appealing to jump on the new generation, as many had certainly looked forward to.

+ Mediabay intended for Optical Reader or SSD
+ Double Display Ports and Graphics (GPU) with 4K support
+ Two PCI-e slots*
+ USB 3.0 also available

– No iLO
– Worse processor and that does not seem to be replaceable
– Much higher price tag
– No internal Micro SD or USB
– * PCIe x8 and a PCIe x4 running x1
– Marvel Controls for storage (no possibility for future FBWC)
– Broadcom Network Controls
– Total fewer USB ports
– Requires HPE Customized VMware ESXi image with drivers
